Are you in a bind right now in your career or personal life? Are you so broke that you can't even pay attention to the words that you are reading? If either of those statements describes the state of your current existence, it is time that you put on your online battle gear. I am referring to the type of armor that will enable you to fight your way out of the difficult situation that you are facing. A fast way to earn money by using the skills that you have as an internet marketer is by calling those people who own a business in your city or town. Often times, we take for granted the words that we have learned over the years as online experts and business owners. These very skills are the kind of abilities that can make you a person with extra money if you persevere and do not give up at any cost.
Start making a list of the companies that are advertising in your local low budget newspaper. In my area, we have a periodical called The News Journal. Though the name may be different in your neck of the woods, you most likely have a similar resource that can become a list of gold in the right hands. After you have gotten a copy of this newspaper, you can call all of those companies in the paper that have a telephone number, but do not have a website yet. This is what should now be your target market. The plan is to market to these business owners by offering them a website for an excellent price. This is how the banks operate on a routine basis. They charge their customers a higher fee than whatever they are paying. It is time that we begin to do the same exact thing in our own home based businesses. Develop a list of these owners who have no sites and just call them and let them know that you can have a site made for them in less than 10 days for less than $400. Keep calling until you have found a person that takes you up on your offer. You would then get your outsourcing mentioned above to do it for you for 100 dollars or less and you have just earned a nice, little paycheck in less than 14 days. If you repeat this process, you can increase the amount of money you make very easily.
Doing these out-of-the-box sort of things can lead you to leave your current place of employment very quickly. If you can teach these methods to your family members, you can also help them to obtain similar results in their own home based businesses. Now is the time to put your newly discovered knowledge to work and become an offline business owner’s answer to their prayer.

Oh My Where did my day go?

Beware of being so busy that you don't get anything done.
Are you new to internet marketing, or better still do you have a home business. Well, I just thought I would run this by you. Stop wasting time. Stop wasting time. I say this because I know, that s what I do all day. I get up in the morning send the kids of to school. I go back to bed and take a short nap then next thing you know its 10 25 am, wow just in time to listen to the wake up call. I go up to my office above the garage and turn on my computer. I have a daily schedule planned that I am going to follow, but first I am going to check emails, oh oh, bad idea, 1 hr later I have still not touched my schedule yet. Now I will go on twitter and send out a couple of tweets, 1 hr later, no schedule. I will check my emails again, looks like I got a couple new ones, wow its lunchtime I need to get something to eat.
Now just before I start again I will check my email one last time, now its 2pm. oh my where did the day go. I have to do some work. Threw a glance at the schedule then the phone rings, next thing you know its 230pm. I really got to do something now because in an 30mins my kids will be home from school. I must do something now. oh oh I have a message on skype, this is someone I have to talk to. I hear the school bus, I better hurry the kids will come crashing in anytime now, I have 5 mins to catch up. Catch up on what, where was I again. Oh its the kids, its 3 15 pm what happened. I don't have enough time to catch up and I never got anything done, yet I have been so busy all day. Now what did I do today? I checked my email, sent a couple of tweets, checked my email, ate lunch, checked my email, answered a few phone calls, got on skype and next thing you know the kids are home. Wow what a busy day. Nothing done, just busy being busy. I guess I will just stay up late after homework and bedtime, so I can get something done. Or I can just wait till the morning and start all over again.
Now you see there is a lesson to be learned here today. But I know you are smart enough and you can figure that yourself. If you are not too busy.

Search-engine Success: Don’t Forget Description Tags

The description tags in search engine snippets have improved in recent years. Years ago, many search results would include snippets in the top results that were just plain nonsense. However, search today usually returns more quality snippets even in deeper results. Part of this may be due to improvements to the search engines themselves, but a large element of improved snippets is also due to superior description tags. Because the competition has improved, this observation only serves to highlight the need for quality description tags to be a part of your search marketing plan.
What's a Snippet?
Let’s review the relationship between the description tag and search engine snippets. In many cases, Google and other search engines will pull content from the meta description of a given web page to use as the snippet, the brief description of a search result just beneath the link. Google sometimes pulls the snippet from Dmoz.org, a directory that Google trusts, especially when no meta description tag is included. Search engines can also pull the first textual content on a given page for the snippet. There is no way to completely control this, but the best way to manage what is displayed in the snippets for your website is to create accurate, unique meta descriptions for each page within the site.
The description tag has little or no effect on search engine results. Good descriptions aren’t likely to up your rankings. So, why should we care about search engine snippets at all? Because getting in top search engine results is only half the game; it does a website no good to be on page one of search results if no one clicks on that result. A good snippet encourages click-through to your website while a bad or nonexistent snippet (see Google shopping results for “Elvis t-shirt” below) discourages that action.

Focus on Meta Descriptions
Descriptions aren’t complicated. They live in the meta description tag in the head of a web page and should be brief enough to show up in their entirety as a search engine snippet. Generally, they should be one or two sentences, reflecting focused keywords and, most importantly, a call to action. Remember, because the description tag does little to improve the actual search results for the page, the use of defined keywords is secondary in terms of getting users to click on a search-results snippet. Accurate keywords certainly are a positive, but the focus should be placed on getting users to click on your search result, as opposed to the sole objective of incorporating keywords. Reiterate the theme of the page in your snippet and ask the searcher to click through. It’s more old-school marketing than science; but it can make all the difference.
The Importance of Click-throughs
While the meta description is only one of many important entities in a well-rounded search marketing campaign, the importance shouldn’t be overlooked. A top search engine result does no good if no one clicks through to your site. As description tags continue to improve across the Internet, so too does the competition's use of them. Finding a way to entice searchers to click on your result, versus those surrounding it, is key. When writing meta descriptions, think of what can you say in one or two brief sentences to both reinforce the focus of the page and persuade the searcher to click through. Find a positive, accurate call to action, embed relevant keywords, and you’ll be well on your way.

Ecommerce Know-How: Optimizing Your Site for Microsoft Bing

The Microsoft, Yahoo! search deal announced in July still faces legal hurdles, but as more details have become available, it is clear that the companies' combined search share has—for the first time in perhaps a decade—created some real competition for Google.
Depending on which poll or survey you favor, Microsoft and Yahoo! will control between 15 and 30 percent of the total search market right. And if historical data applies, the duo will generate better click-through rates, grow more quickly, and present different results than Google, the current search-engine king. And for these reasons, ecommerce marketers should reconsider how their businesses manage search engine optimization (SEO) and search-based, pay-per-click (PPC) advertising.

Prepare for the Microsoft Decade
For the past few years, Google has been going after Microsoft. Gmail, Google Docs, Chrome, Android, and the recently announced Chrome OS were all assaults on Microsoft profit centers and apparent sidesteps from Google's core business. I am betting that Microsoft, which has approximately $68 billion more in market capitalization than Google, more than double Google's revenue, and roughly triple Google's gross profits, will start to fight back. The Yahoo! deal is the first real salvo from Microsoft. Look for Bing, which will be the search algorithm for all Microsoft and Yahoo! sites, to release some impressive new tricks in the near future (Bing's Visual Search is an early example). And don't be surprised if 2010 is the beginning of the new Microsoft decade.
Competition is Good, Remain Neutral
Competition breeds innovation, so for ecommerce marketers, I believe it is a good thing that Google, particularly where PPC is concerned, is getting some heavyweight competition. Earlier in the search engine advertising wars, too many marketers took sides, placing all of their advertising dollars and SEO efforts in Google's basket. But as the Microsoft decade begins, it is important to remain neutral. Both Google and Microsoft have a lot to offer us in terms of search and search marketing, and I believe smart ecommerce marketers will use both.
Bing Has Changed SEO
I am the first to admit that until recently, when I thought about SEO, I thought about optimizing for Google. It was the only search engine that mattered, and, for the most part, all other engines followed Google's lead.
Bing is different. It returns different results and displays those results differently than Google. So now, marketers need to be concerned not just with how their companies rank in Google or with what Google's algorithms are doing, but also how their companies rank in Bing.
As an example, try searching for "golf clubs" in both Google and Bing. For me, the Google search showed Worldwide Golf Shops, an online store, as the top result (preferences could be influencing this, but you get the idea). But on Bing, Worldwide Golf Shops was listed 12th, which put it on the second page of results. Clearly, there is something different about the Bing algorithm, and if I were the marketing guy at Worldwide Golf Shops, I would be scrambling to figure out what that difference was before Microsoft gobbles up more of the search market.

Three Things You Can Do To Optimize for Bing
First and foremost, SEO should start with real content for real people. A lot of smart engineers at Microsoft (and at Google for that matter) spend their working life trying to return the best search results for their human users. So smart SEO should focus on human interest, readability, usability, and value.
Once you have provided good content for your human site visitors, there are at least three things you should do to pave the way for Bing's search algorithms.
Have a good site map. There are some indications that Bing's search algorithms might be more dependent on site maps than Google's algorithms and search bots. So make sure that you have a good one.
Use keywords in sub-domains. There has been a lot of discussion in the SEO world about how Bing weighs keywords in domain names and in sub-domains. And it is relatively clear that Bing favors sites that have the search term in the domain or sub-domain. So considering making category landing pages sub-domains—for example, http://widgets.somestore.com rather than http://www.somestore.com/widgets.
Write good code. Bing seems to be less tolerant of poorly composed, non-standards-compliant HTML. For example, the aforementioned Worldwide Golf Shops uses a poorly devised and deprecated table layout. While I am not saying this is the reason the site did relatively poorly in Bing, I am saying that it could be a factor. If your site is using tables for non-tabular content, redesign now.

Post: Is this reform going to fail? I hope not, because I know a lot of people need health insurance. Actually most of the people that I see in my line of work, as a RN, have no health insurance and are the ones that are mostly against it. Because of party lines these people are voting against their best interest. If all the people that have no health insurance come together and fight for this bill, then it will pass. The uninsured that are against the bill don't really care because they figure they can just go to the emergency room, when they need medical attention. The ED is the Primary care for most people.
